The low-cost airline Easyjet Europe will launch non-stop flights between Berlin-Brandenburg and Cairo (Sphinx Airport) from December 2023. These should be offered from 73 euros (one-way).

In the Egyptian capital, the group is heading to the Sphinx Airport, which was built to relieve pressure on Cairo Airport. Non-stop flights to this airport from the United Kingdom were announced a few days ago. At the same time, these are the first flights of the orange low-cost airline to Egypt.

The Egyptian capital Cairo is 2.853 kilometers from Berlin and is located at the upper end of the Nile Delta. Because of its role as a hub between the Middle East and Africa, Cairo is an important travel and business destination. For travelers, the city offers a deep insight into the history of ancient Egypt with its famous pyramids, including the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, as well as the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opens this winter. Aside from its rich cultural and culinary heritage, Cairo is also an important business center, hosting many financial institutions and international conferences. The new intake will initially be served twice a week. The implementation should take place on Wednesday and Sunday.

“2By adding Easyjet Cairo to its route network for the first time, we are increasing the attractiveness of our winter flight schedule even further. Egypt is one of the most important travel destinations for our German customers. In addition, Germany plays a crucial role as an important economic and trading partner for Egypt. By expanding our offering to Cairo, we are also helping to significantly increase the attractiveness of Berlin-Brandenburg Airport and its range of medium-haul destinations. This once again underlines our commitment to the capital airport and the entire regional tourism and economic area,” said Easyjet Germany boss Stephan Erler.

The carrier will continue to offer six weekly routes between Berlin and Tel Aviv in the 2023/24 winter flight schedule. The Group believes that the new Sphinx flights would complement its offering to this geographical region of the world.

“With the connection to Cairo, Easyjet is further enhancing its attractive offering at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. I am very pleased that the airline is adding the destination to its BER route network and thus offering the people in the region another exciting destination. At the same time, by expanding its offering, Easyjet is confirming its connection to the Berlin-Brandenburg air traffic location,” said BER Managing Director Aletta von Massenbach.
