The Easyjet lowcoster will take over another 22 aircraft from the A320neo series later than originally planned. It was agreed with the manufacturer that these will only be handed over in 2022 and 2024 instead of between 2027 and 2028.
The matter is not cheap for Easyjet, because company boss Johan Lundgren had to agree to a price premium of 28 million euros. Furthermore, Airbus will pass on the costs for any rising material and personnel costs. In a media statement, the CEO of the orange low-cost airline says that this solution enables Easyjet to flexibly plan the fleet in these uncertain times.
