The low-cost airline Wizz Air caused amusement in the management floor of the competitor with a takeover offer for its competitor Easyjet. Its management rejected the offer and, according to Reuters, described it as far too low.

It is unclear whether the offer from Wizz Air was actually meant seriously or whether they just wanted to land a PR gag. Both airlines do not want to officially comment on this process. It is clear, however, that the offer will not be accepted. Easyjet boss Johan Lundgren said that they had also received a signal from the competitor that they were no longer interested in buying. On top of that, the offer would have been "unacceptable".

The British low-cost airline will raise a further 1,4 billion euros through a capital increase. A credit line of 340 million euros was also secured. The paper collapsed on the stock exchange. Wizz Air is now also considered a keen competitor to Easyjet in the UK. The subsidiary Wizz Air UK maintains a base at the home base of the competitor.
