Golf carrier Emirates Airline will in future fly between Larnaka (Cyprus) and Luqa (Malta) with Boeing 777-200s. It goes without saying that the machine comes from Dubai and makes a stopover in Cyprus on its way to Malta.

With this so-called direct flight, which is offered on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, Emirates also wants to connect Malta to the network. In contrast to non-stop flights, direct flights can have any number of stopovers, but it is important that the flight number remains the same.

The first flight on the Dubai-Luqa route via Larnaka is scheduled to take place on July 14, 2021. The carrier hopes that by then the entry and quarantine regulations will be further relaxed.

The EK press release or its processing is only partially correct. At least not when it comes to “first flight”.
EK flies / flew daily (!!) DXB-LCA-MLA many years ago, at that time not as a triangle flight, but via LCA on the return flight. And that with good utilization. I should know, as a station manager and organizer for many years.
