People who come from the European Union and want to enter the England part of the United Kingdom are no longer subject to quarantine since Monday, provided that they have been fully vaccinated. Different entry requirements may apply to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The United Kingdom has so far practiced tough entry rules and has at least classified most of the EU's members in yellow. This has also triggered a quarantine obligation for their own citizens. Various airlines, airports and tour operators have unsuccessfully sued against the so-called “travel light”. The regulations are now being relaxed and people who have at least been fully vaccinated will be allowed to enter the country again without being segregated.
England limited this to the European Union and the United States of America for the time being. But there is also an exception: if you have previously been in France, you cannot benefit from the new regulation even if you have been vaccinated. The UK government justifies this with the beta variant of the coronavirus.
All vaccines approved by the EMA, FDA or the UK Health Authority are recognized. Apart from AstraZeneca, the list is almost identical anyway. It should be noted that the easing announced by the UK government applies primarily to England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own entry requirements, which may differ. Therefore, travelers with destination United Kingdom should inform themselves about possible regional deviations in good time before departure.
