Etihad has returned the first Airbus A380 to Abu Dhabi

A few days ago, the airline Etihad Airways transferred the first of four Airbus A380s from France to Abu Dhabi. The plane, registered A6-APG, arrived in the capital of the United Arab Emirates on the night of March 10, 2023.

The affected super jumbo had previously been in so-called long-time storage at Teruel Airport in Spain for a longer period of time. At the end of January 2023, this was transferred to Tarbes-Lourdes for maintenance purposes. Etihad Airways temporarily decommissioned the A6-APG in March 2020 due to the corona pandemic. The four-jet engine was initially "stored" in the United Arab Emirates for just over a year before it was flown to Teruel.

It was initially unclear whether the golf carrier would put the super jumbos back into scheduled service. It was later announced that four Airbus A380s would be reactivated and would initially be used between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow. The four machines should be back in scheduled service by the peak season of the 2023 summer flight schedule at the latest.
