The US aviation authority gave the green light for the improvements proposed by Boeing to the machine type B737-Max. It is the electrical problem that was identified a few weeks ago.
This should be able to be remedied quickly. The manufacturer has already sent two instructions to the airlines concerned. The majority of the machines are still in the Boeing yard and must therefore be improved before delivery. This would solve this problem, but a new problem has arisen.
As a result of the Sriwijaya Air crash, the FAA ordered an inspection of all Classic models. Specifically, these are the Boeing 737-300, -500 and 500 series. In the United States these are no longer very common, but in other parts of the world they are the backbone of many fleets.
The FAA's airworthiness directive indicates that a fault in a control line for the flaps is suspected. It is completely unclear whether this was actually the cause of the accident. The authority nevertheless demands that the models mentioned at the beginning have to be checked extra-clockwise. Safety first.
