The Norwegian startup Flyr started this year with the Boeing 737-800 machine. The first 737 Max 8s are to join the fleet in the coming year. These are leasing machines.
The lowcoster and Air Lease Corporation have signed a letter of intent to lease six Boeing 737 Max 8s. Options have also been signed for up to four additional copies. Once the contracts have been finalized, the first unit will join the Flyr fleet in early 2022.
"The decision to opt for the latest generation of brand new Boeing aircraft is in line with the authorities' goal of more sustainable development in aviation," said Flyr CEO Tonje Wikstrøm Frislid in a press release. “At the same time, we are happy to fulfill customers' requests to fly the latest aircraft with the lowest emissions. The new type of aircraft contributes to this with an average emission saving of up to 14 percent compared to the previous models. "
