The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings Discover carried out the official maiden flight from Frankfurt am Main on Saturday evening. Shortly before 20:00 p.m., the D-AXGE started as 4Y134 with the destination Sansibar via Mombasa.

Managing director Wolfgang Raebiger, who is also a pilot, is also the commander of the premiere flight of the new company, which only received AOC and an operating license from the Federal Aviation Office on June 16, 2021. The aircraft has a total of 270 seats, 22 of which are in business class (lie-flat seats). In the next few months, all aircraft in the fleet will gradually be equipped with up to 31 Premium Economy Class seats.

In contrast to the previous long-haul product from Eurowings, meals and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the flight price in all transport classes. In Business Class all drinks are offered free of charge, in Premium Economy Class there will also be a free selection of beer and wine. There is also a buy-on-board offer from which travelers in Economy Class and Premium Economy Class can choose from further snacks and alcoholic beverages.

In addition to the sunny destinations of Mombasa and Zanzibar, Eurowings Discover will be heading to Punta Cana from August 9, 2021 and Windhoek from August 10. From September 30th, Frankfurt will travel to Las Vegas and from October 1st to the dream island of Mauritius. With the winter flight schedule, Bridgetown (November 1.11st), Cancún (November 1.11st), Varadero (November 2.11nd) and Montego Bay (November 3.11rd) will be added.

Some goals have also been announced for the middle distance: From Frankfurt to the Canary Islands Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife as well as to Hurghada and Marsa Alam in Egypt and Marrakech in Morocco. From summer 2022, Eurowings Discover will also start from the Munich hub on short, medium and long-haul routes.
