The charter company Green Airlines UG (limited liability) plans to market flights operated by German Airways (formerly WDL) from Groningen in the Netherlands from July 2021. The provider chartered Embraer 190 machines and markets the seats at their own risk.

From Groningen, Green Airlines intends to offer seven connections per week that are to be carried out with chartered German Airways E190. These are the destinations Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Kurfu and Faro. As of September 1, 2021, an additional five weekly circulations are to be marketed to Turku, Finland.

In a media statement, Green Airlines describes the Embraer 190 aircraft chartered by German Airways as particularly climate-friendly. Among other things, one writes in the wording: "The aircraft is known for its fuel efficiency, low emission values ​​and low noise pollution". This statement is to be classified as misleading, since German Airways operates the first generation of the E190. Calculated per seat, the fuel consumption and the associated pollutant emissions are higher than those of comparable types. If the successor model Embraer 190-E2 were used, the balance sheet would look fundamentally different.
