Half-year figures: Etihad in the black

The corona pandemic has hit almost all airlines around the world hard. This did not leave the golf carriers spoiled for success either. Etihad Airways has now announced that it wants to have achieved an operating profit in the first half of 2021. The EBITDA is shown positive at 0,1 billion US dollars.

The carrier from Abu Dhabi seems to have succeeded in creating a small work of art, because the communicated occupancy rate, which was achieved in the first six months of the current year, is given as only 24,9 percent. This low factor is attributed in particular to the entry and quarantine regulations that many states have issued due to the corona pandemic.

The otherwise strong passenger business was rather weak for obvious reasons. Etihad seems to have succeeded in generating more income in the cargo area. This segment shows a 56 percent increase to around 0,8 billion US dollars. Another component was the reduction in costs. According to the announcement, this could be reduced to 1,4 billion US dollars.
