In June 2022, Hamburg Airport will alternately close the two runways for one week each. Regular maintenance and repair work is carried out. Meanwhile, one operates as a single-runway airport.

First of all, runway 8/15 will be closed and renovated between June 2022th and 05th, 23. During this phase, all flights will be handled via runway 15/33. From June 16, 2022 to June 23, 2022 this runway will be affected and all flights will use 05/23.

The work on the runways includes, among other things, the removal of rubber abrasion at the touchdown points, the flushing of the sewer lines, the renewal of the markings and the replacement and maintenance of the runway lighting. These annual measures are necessary to ensure continuous safe flight operations.
