Helsinki: Finnair takes on Guangzhou

Oneworld member Finnair will launch non-stop service between Helsinki and China's Guangzhou on September 6, 2022. The route will initially be served once a week.

The carrier plans to fly from the Finnish capital on Tuesdays. The return flights from Guangzhou are to be carried out on Thursdays. Long-haul aircraft of the Airbus A350 type have been announced as aircraft. Due to the fact that EU carriers are not allowed to use the airspace of the Russian Federation, Finnair has to fly significant detours.

"We look forward to returning to Guangzhou and gradually expanding our offering to the Chinese market," said Ole Orvér, Finnair's Chief Commercial Officer. The airline also flies to Shanghai once a week. For the 2022/23 winter season, Finnair has a route network with around 70 European destinations.

The Guangzhou flight connects to a number of European Finnair destinations, with the transfer check required by the Chinese authorities at Helsinki Airport for the flight to Guangzhou.
