The Maltese airline Hifly Malta landed in Antarctica for the first time with an Airbus A340 long-haul jet. It was also generally the first landing of this type of machine on the freezing continent.

The Airbus A340-300 with the registration 9H-SOL was used. This long-haul aircraft took explorers and tourists from Cape Town to the Wolf's Fang Runway in Queen Maud Land. The A340-300 affected is stationed in Malta, but was not previously parked in Luqa, but in Beja, Portugal.

Hifly Malta transferred the 9H-SOL to Cape Town, South Africa. Since then, the four-jet engine has been flying to Antarctica almost linearly. Numerous flights have been carried out in the last few days. The official first landing of the aircraft type Airbus A340-300 on the continent of Antarctica took place on November 2, 2021.
