People who have stayed in India, South Africa or Brazil can expect stricter entry regulations in Austria. Only negative PCR tests have been accepted since Monday. This also applies to the "free test" from the ten-day quarantine. Antigen findings will no longer be recognized if you have previously stayed in one of the three countries mentioned. Furthermore, Austrian citizenship or a place of residence in Austria are required.

The NOTAM A1074 / 21 states that non-stop passenger flights that have started in India are no longer allowed to land at Austrian airports. The ban for South Africa and Brazil has also been extended. The landing bans apply until at least May 18, 2021.

There are easing measures for Finland, Italy and Slovakia. The first-named country was included in Appendix A of the Entry Ordinance. As a result, neither a test nor a quarantine is required. Italy and Slovakia were deleted from Appendix B. This mainly has advantages for commuters, because they only have to present a negative corona test once a week. Croatia and the Netherlands made it onto List B (high incidence areas). Coming from the two states, commuters must submit a negative test, which must not be older than 72 hours.

According to Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) it should from May 19, 2021 entry is made easier for those who have been tested, vaccinated and recovered. The green passport will not be active yet, because in a transitional phase, for example, the yellow vaccination pass or written reports will serve as evidence. The start of the app is announced for mid-June 2021.
