The government of Greece is extending the corona travel rules between the mainland and the islands until at least August 9, 2021. This emerges from a notam issued by the aviation authority.

Specifically, this means that the so-called 3G certificate is still required on domestic flights between the mainland and the islands. The following are recognized: Complete vaccination at least 14 days ago; Negative antigen rapid test (maximum 48 hours old) or negative PCR result (maximum 72 hours old) or a confirmation of a past Covid disease, which may not be more than 180 days old.

The fact that those who are tested must bring their certificates with them from abroad is important for those switching. There is no way to be tested during the transfer. If you fly point-to-point from the mainland to an island within Greece, the findings that you received on site at a station can of course also be presented.

There is another exception for young people between the ages of 12 and 17. They may also show the result of a quick antigen test they carried out themselves. This may take place at the earliest 24 hours before departure.

For air travelers who want to fly from islands to the mainland, there is still only the recommendation that at least a self-rapid test should be carried out. A declaration form must be filled out for this purpose. Incidentally, young people who have tested themselves must also fill out the same and take them with them during the trip. The form is available for download under this link.
