The ambitious new edition of the Ilyushin Il-114 Tubropro plane will be delayed. The background is that the same engines as in the recently crashed prototype of the Il-112V are to be installed.

As a result, the Il-114-300 can only be delivered much later. This has meanwhile been confirmed by the Russian government. The tests are currently suspended, because you first have to identify the exact cause of the Crash of the Il-112V find out.

Initially, the UAC and the Russian government said that the schedule for the new edition of the Il-114-300 should not change and that the first machines should be handed over to customers in 2023. But this can no longer be maintained, because it has now been officially confirmed that there will be delays and the schedule must be adjusted accordingly.

The engines in particular will have to be examined carefully and, if necessary, reworked. In Russia, the project is in the crossfire of criticism because the Il-112V flight was carried out despite the knowledge that the TW7-117 engine tends to overheat. This is designed to be extremely compact and therefore the possibilities for cooling should be severely limited. Russian aviation experts, including former UAC employees, do not believe that this model can be improved and recommend purchasing Western engines. However, this is strictly rejected by the Kremlin.
