The Ryanair base in Zagreb operated by Lauda Europe is to be expanded further in December 2021. The group has announced numerous new routes, including Basel. These are to be added gradually from December 1, 2021.

The new routes include: Manchester, Malaga, Dublin, Thessaloniki, Basel, Eindhoven, Paphos, Luqa and Naples. These are to be served mainly with the Airbus A320 from Lauda Europe. At the start of the base, two aircraft of this type will be permanently stationed in the Croatian capital. The sister companies Ryanair DAC, Malta Air and Buzz also fly into Zagreb from other bases.

With the machines from Lauda Europe, Ryanair is building a new base each in Zagreb and Zadar. Furthermore, the Airbus-flying subsidiary will also operate at the British airport London-Stansted in the future, reports Aviation Direct.

Ryanair collects basket in Tuzla

While the Irish lowcoster can make brilliant announcements in Croatia, Tuzla is doing suboptimally to say the least. The regional government prefers to rely on competitor Wizz Air and refused to sign a corresponding contract with Ryanair. This would have made it possible for new routes - for example to Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden and Weeze - to be added. Malta, Stockholm and Memmingen were also planned. After the regional government's negative decision, the sale of tickets was stopped immediately. The head of the airport, Esed Mujačić, had to resign, reports Ex-Yu-Aviation.com.

Wizz Air, on the other hand, received the permits required for the expansion planned from Tuzla. The regional government of the Tuzla region did not disclose the reason why this was denied to Ryanair. The Irish group was able to conclude corresponding contracts with the one in Banja-Luka, so that the expansion planned there can be carried out.
