Ljubljana Airport was unable to really participate in the recovery in air traffic, as the number of passengers remained low in August 2021. There were 73.056 travelers.
This was 65,4 percent below the value that was achieved on the same Monday in 2019. Both the discontinuation of the home base carrier Adria Airways and the corona pandemic made a negative contribution. In contrast to other airports, the airlines in the Slovenian capital were reluctant and, despite any subsidies, either canceled or prematurely canceled routes that had been announced.
According to the figures published by Fraport, Ljubljana had a total of 2021 passengers in 208.541 to date. This is 83,7 percent below the value that was achieved in the same period of 2019. The recovery of air traffic is therefore proceeding much more slowly in Slovenia than in other countries.
