Some Lufthansa aircraft will be taken out of service in the future. New planes are to be ordered for this purpose. The Airbus A380, which was once on the brink of extinction, will probably remain in use for some time to come.

During the Corona crisis, Lufthansa, like its competitors, decided to give up its own super jumbos. The probability that these will be put back into operation was assessed as very low. However, that is changing after the manufacturer experienced complications with deliveries of the 777X.

Finally, Lufthansa decides to continue using the superjumbos and to reintroduce them. This will take place in the summer of 2023. The lifetime forecast for the Airbus A380 is estimated at several years. A decision has also been made to bring two more A380s back into scheduled service.
