For many years the McDonnell Douglas MD-11F was the backbone of the Lufthansa Cargo fleet. Actually, this type of machine should long ago have been phased out, but the corona pandemic brought with it a temporary extension of use. On October 15, 2021, however, it will finally be over.

On the occasion of the imminent phasing out of the MD-11F with the registration D-ALCC, Lufthansa Cargo missed a special sticker. On Saturday, the cargo airline presented this on social media. "Thank you MD-11" and Farewell can be read on the fuselage in the stern area. The inside of the main cargo door has been decorated with “Thank you” and a heart. However, this can only be seen when the three-emitter is being loaded or unloaded.

According to Lufthansa Cargo, the D-ALCC is to be seen in Frankfurt am Main, Tel Aviv, Cairo, Chicago-O'Hare and New York-JFK until October 15, 2021. After the last commercial flights, this McDonnell Douglas MD-11F will be decommissioned. Then the era of the imposing three-jet engine at Lufthansa Cargo will also end.
