The Lufthansa Group tries to get the participants of the customer loyalty program Miles & More to fly by granting double status miles. The group describes the measure in a broadcast as a "goodwill offer".
The largest airline in Germany writes that they want to “offer their most loyal customers security at an early stage”, since “with the low number of flights available, it is currently not easy to obtain the status or to qualify for it”. Status and HON Circle miles should be doubled automatically regardless of the booking class. Frequent travelers and senators who have a credit card from the frequent flyer program should also be able to collect status miles with it. The changes should initially apply until December 31, 2021.
“We are currently flying on sight and are aware of the difficult situation in the corona pandemic for our customers as well. Unfortunately, we cannot predict how the opportunities for travel will develop this year. That is why we create reliability for our most loyal customers by making it much easier to maintain and achieve frequent flyer status, ”says Joost Greve, Head of Loyalty at the Lufthansa Group.
