The Lufthansa Group and the Cockpit Association recently agreed on a long-term wage agreement. The collective wage agreement (VTV) and collective wage agreement (MTV) were adopted for pilots at Lufthansa Airline and Lufthansa Cargo.
The Lufthansa Group and the Cockpit Association have recently made further progress: they were recently able to agree on a long-term wage agreement. The VTV and the MTV were up for debate, with which in combination there is an 18 percent increase in basic remuneration for the pilots. In addition, this should enable improved conditions of use. The term of the VTV runs until December 31, 2026, while the MTV runs until December 31, 2027. However, the two will not clash as a peace obligation has been agreed.
The key points of the agreements:
- 7 percent on December 1, 2023
- 5 percent on January 1, 2025 and
- 5 percent on January 1, 2026
- One-off payment of 3,75% of the annual fixed salary, but no more than EUR 3.000 in 2023
- Improved variable remuneration based on the company's economic success
- More plannable free time and duty roster stability for pilots, among other things by fixing ten days off per month
- Further growth through the takeover of former Germanwings pilots into Lufthansa Airline (LHA)
"The collective bargaining agreement with VC creates additional stability in our operations and thus also more reliability for our customers," says Group Board Member and Labor Director Michael Niggemann. "In addition to the remuneration, we are also improving the compatibility of work and private life for our pilots. From an economic perspective, the conclusion is not easy for us. However, the long term creates planning security for Lufthansa Airline in the coming years, especially for the intended growth on long-haul routes. In addition, the collective bargaining agreement peacefully found at the negotiating table strengthens the social partnership,” as the German carrier reports.
