Malaysia drops all CoV entry restrictions

Malaysia says goodbye to entry restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus. From now on, the country in Southeast Asia is freely accessible for travellers.

The borders in Malaysia have been open since April 2022. Most recently, however, entry was still subject to certain pandemic-related documentation requirements. These have been abolished since August 1, 2022. A government announcement said that all corona entry requirements were lifted regardless of the vaccination status of those entering the country. The updated information from the Federal Foreign Office points out that tourists still have to download the MySejahtera app. However, the proof of vaccination that had to be deposited there so far can no longer be provided. This is reported by Check24.

The vaccination status had to be proven in the Malaysian app by July 31st. Unvaccinated travelers also had to show a negative PCR test that was no more than 48 hours old. An additional rapid antigen test had to be carried out within 24 hours of entering Malaysia, which, regardless of the result, was followed by a five-day quarantine.
