The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta, Christopher Fearne, published the so-called “Amber List” on Tuesday. This includes Bulgaria, Romania and parts of Spain.

Passengers who want to travel to Malta from Romania, Bulgaria or Barcelona, Girona or Madrid must show a negative corona test from Friday, which must not be older than 72 hours. If this is not the case, a quarantine in Malta can be ordered. Alternatively, a PCR test can be arranged at Luqa Airport, although the Maltese authorities have not published any information on possible costs.

Countries like Austria, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Slovakia and so on are still on the green list. If you have stayed in the “green states” in the last 14 days before entering the Republic of Malta, you only need to fill out two forms, but there are no restrictions. All countries that are not explicitly mentioned on the green list or the “Amber List” are still subject to an entry ban.

Fearne announced that the rating of states will be revised weekly. The countries and / or regions that are included in the “Amber List” are published in the Official Gazette and on the government websites. Put simply, this means: If the country from which you want to enter is listed in green, there are no restrictions. Only two forms have to be filled out. If it appears on the “Amber list”, a negative PCR test must be presented. If the state is on the “Red List”, there is a general entry ban.
