Airbus A380-800s operated by Lufthansa have not been sighted in Munich for a long time. The carrier is currently not using these in regular scheduled services, because originally, after the start of the corona pandemic, it was more likely that the type would be permanently decommissioned. But things turned out differently, because a comeback landing has been announced for April 12, 2023.
At Munich Airport, people are already looking forward to the return of D-AIMK. According to the current state of affairs, this Airbus A380 is scheduled to land again at the Bavarian Airport on April 12, 2023 at around 12:30 p.m. after a break of around three years. However, the aircraft will not be put into commercial scheduled service until the beginning of June 2023, because extensive checks and maintenance work will first be carried out.
After the "comeback landing", the D-AIMK taxis on a "welcome tour" along Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 to Lufthansa Technik. She is expected there around 13:00 p.m. The visitor hill at Munich Airport offers the best view of the A380.
From June 1st, Lufthansa will be using the A380 again in regular flight operations. First to Boston, and from July 4, 2023 also to New York to John F. Kennedy Airport. Until then, the A380 will be seen several times during training flights in Munich. The Lufthansa A380 offers 509 seats in four travel classes: eight seats in First Class, 78 seats in Business Class, 52 seats in Premium Eco and 371 seats in Economy Class. Due to the sharp rise in demand for flight tickets and the delayed delivery of ordered aircraft, Lufthansa had already decided in 2022 to reactivate the Airbus A380, which is particularly popular with passengers and crews.
