The latest example of Easyjet shows how quickly airlines can react to the lifting of quarantine obligations. Malta and the Balearic Islands, among others, have been moved to the green list and the low-cost airline is just launching new routes and additional 50.000 seats.

Among other things, the lowcoster will now fly from Bristol and London-Luton to Luqa. The frequencies will be increased significantly from Gatwick and Manchester. Easyjet also wants to fly to Palma de Mallorca much more frequently from the United Kingdom. The offer will be increased to 82 round trips per week from Gatwick, Luton, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester and Liverpool.

Mahon is now on the flight schedule 25 times a week from Bristol, Gatwick, Luton and Manchester. Ibzia increases Easyjet to 40 weekly rounds. The Mediterranean island is offered from Gatwick, Bristol, Belfast, Luton and Manchester.

At Easyjet, the easing is seen as positive, but the company's management does not go far enough: “Although we welcome the inclusion of Malta, Madeira and the Balearic Islands in the Green List, this is still not the safe and sustainable reopening of travel the government promised. This limited reopening is not justified by the dates. Science shows that traveling to many European countries would have very little impact on hospitalization, and this is all the more the case now as Covid cases in Europe have declined and many countries have lower infection rates than the UK. We will add additional flights to these destinations to take as many people as possible, ”said Easyjet boss Johan Lundgren.
