The long-haul start-up Norse Atlantic Airways plans to start operations in the course of 2022 with a base in London-Gatwick. The focus is particularly on the former Norwegian routes to the USA.

In the meantime, initial talks have been held with the Unite union. This assumes that Norse Atlantic Airways has a particular focus on former Norwegian staff who lost their jobs as a result of long-haul flights being abandoned. The union said that there had been an initial meeting and that a timetable for further negotiations has now been set.

The aim is to conclude a collective agreement for future UK employees of Norse Atlantic Airways. Due to Brexit, it is also clear that the Norwegian carrier in the United Kingdom must obtain another AOC. The clear statement that a base is planned in Gatwick speaks clearly against Fifth Freedom flights.

On request, Norse Atlantic Airways stated that no public announcement had been made about a possible base in London Gatwick. However, it is acknowledged that the UK capital is an interesting market and that talks with the unions were therefore started at an early stage.

The first aircraft to bear the livery of Norse Atlantic Airways is the Boeing 787-9 with the registration LN-LNO. This was repainted in Shannon, Ireland in the design of the newcomer. This machine was previously used by Norwegian.
