Paderborn before bankruptcy

Advertising

The German Paderborn Airport could soon file for bankruptcy under self-administration. The majority of the airport is owned by the district of Paderborn. Now there should also be a political majority in favor of the planned procedure, reports Westdeutsche Rundfunk.

The owners think it is not financially feasible to renovate the airport outside of bankruptcy proceedings. The existence of Paderborn Airport should not be endangered. In the course of the bankruptcy, there could also be a significant reduction in staff.

According to the WDR the airport writes monthly losses of around 700.000 euros due to the corona crisis. The Paderborn district is currently only obliged to compensate a maximum of 200.000 euros in annual loss. However, numerous loan guarantees have also been granted. The district of Gütersloh, which is also involved in the airport, even wants to get out.
