Eurowings Europe will shortly be opening a new base in Prague, but the staff will be offered wages that are very low even by Czech standards. The flight attendants of the Austrian airline should work for a basic salary of 857 euros gross per month.

A full-time employment is not planned at all, because the intention is to employ the cabin crew only part-time. There are performance-related salary components, but these are also low compared to competitors like Buzz. The company, a member of the Lufthansa Group, itself writes that during the high season the salary will consist of up to 50 percent variable salary components.

For the first 70 flight hours, Eurowings Europe pays just EUR 4,70 per flight hour in Prague. Thereafter there are between 71 and 110 flight hours 9,30 euros and from 110 hours 14 euros per hour. Due to the current situation around Corona, it is very difficult to cross the 70 threshold.

For standby services, for example, only 70 cents per hour are paid for the first 90 hours of flight. Then 1,80 euros per hour and from 110 hours there is then 2,70 euros per hour. With all the values mentioned, it must be taken into account that when the next level is reached, the higher value is not paid from the first hour, but only for those who exceed the threshold.

The Eurowings Europe flight attendants in Prague will only be employed full-time between April and October. Outside the months mentioned, the scope of employment is reduced to up to 80 percent part-time. Of course, this has an impact on the employees' wallet, especially since there is traditionally less flown in winter, this cannot be "compensated" for with more flight hours and the associated variable salary components.

It should also be mentioned that Eurowings Europe will pay expenses in Prague on the basis of Austrian law. These amount to 2,75 euros per hour outside the assigned home base and are tax-free. This money is intended by the legislator for food, drinks and other catering. However, there are no regulations that require the employee to buy his snack on the go. It is also allowed to take it away from home at a lower cost.
