The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will operate five aircraft from Vienna-Schwechat in July and August 2021. Before the corona pandemic, the lowcoster used seven machines from the Austrian capital.

Just a few weeks before the start of the corona pandemic in Europe, Wizz Air boss Jozsef Varadi announced the stationing of two more Airbus A321s. At that time it was planned that the Vienna base would consist of nine machines in summer 2020. This plan had to be discarded due to the entry and quarantine regulations and the resulting low demand.

Wizz Air put the workforce at the Vienna base at around 2019 in December 300. A spokeswoman told Aviation Direct that 175 crew members are currently employed in Vienna. This means that around 125 people parted ways, with some layoffs pronounced in the spring of 2020, but it is reported that the larger group quit itself and started new jobs.

This should also explain why the Hungarian low-cost airline is the only airline operating at Vienna Airport looking for flight attendants is.
