A concrete break-up on the runway made landings at Hamburg Airport impossible yesterday. Air traffic could only be continued as planned after 40 minutes.

A spokeswoman for the airport said the damage was discovered on Wednesday during a runway inspection. It had been decided that it had to be repaired immediately. This is reported by the aviation portal Aero. Shortly after 17 p.m., the airport gave the all-clear: the repair work had been successfully completed.

Several flights to Hamburg have been diverted or canceled. After the resumption of operations, there could still be delays, said the spokeswoman. Take-offs were not affected by the runway repairs. One of the airport's two take-off and landing runways is currently undergoing routine maintenance. The damage is in the slope cross.
