The Lufthansa Group has monetized twelve medium-haul jets from the A320 series as part of sale and leaseback deals. The financial resources will be used, among other things, to invest in new machines.

The agreement for the sale and leaseback of twelve Airbus A320 family aircraft was concluded with two contractual partners, Clover Aviation Capital and long-term business partner BBAM (Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management) on favorable commercial terms. The aircraft are up to two years old and are currently operated by Lufthansa Airlines, Lufthansa CityLine and Eurowings.

The sale will generate proceeds of approximately EUR 2023 million in the fourth quarter of 600. The aircraft will be leased back for a period of 72 months. The resulting leasing obligation is accounted for as debt capital in accordance with IFRS 16 and amounts to approximately EUR 200 million. A book profit of approximately EUR 100 million resulting from the sale is recorded in EBIT. The book profit is not included in the adjusted EBIT. The transaction has already been taken into account in Lufthansa Group's financial outlook, which assumes net investments of EUR 2,5 billion to EUR 3 billion in 2023.
