The SAS will set up a new base in Bergen, Norway. This will be operated by the new subsidiary SAS Link. Embraer 195 regional jets are to be stationed on site.
According to the company, they want to employ around 100 people in Bergen. It is not yet clear how many aircraft will be stationed. It was said that this depends on the development of demand. The exact opening date is also left open and is given vaguely as “Summer 2022”.
The airline SAS is repositioning itself in the short-haul segment with the subsidiaries SAS Connect and SAS Link. These should be cheaper than the parent company on the road. Therefore, the project is under sharp criticism from the unions.
