Scheduled or charter flights have long since ceased to exist from Schwerin-Parchim. The airport is bankrupt and so far no buyer has been found. However, it made a name for itself as a parking lot for motor vehicles, because various automobile manufacturers have been temporarily storing cars here since “Dieselgate”.

Compared to the German press agency, the trustee Bettina Schmudde confirmed that this will not change anytime soon. The corresponding “parking space contract” was extended to at least the end of 2021 with the approval of the Aviation Authority of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Schwerin-Parchim Airport is not a victim of the corona pandemic, but had to go to the bankruptcy judge on May 2, 2019. The airport was in the hands of a Chinese operator who was able to implement little or nothing of the initially ambitious plans. The bankruptcy procedure is difficult because there are different usage concepts. It is not a dry matter that the airport will ever go online again.
