Bolzano Airport in South Tyrol was in a deep slumber for a long time. Since the start of the Skyalps flights operated by Luxwing, the small terminal has gradually been brought back to life.

It is busiest on the weekends. Most recently, an average of around 800 passengers took off or landed in Bolzano. Company boss Josef Gostner told the TV station Rai that Ibiza and the destinations in southern Italy are currently in high demand. Nevertheless, the current summer program should only be a kind of test run, because in winter you will really get started with Skyalps.

The manager is obviously also hoping for skiers from Germany who want to spend their vacation in South Tyrol. Skyalps' background is also in the hotel industry, so it is obvious that the focus will be on incoming passengers. However, there is a big question mark again this winter season: Corona. Nobody knows how things will really go on and how the governments will behave in autumn and winter. Will normality come or will new border closings and lockdowns come? Nobody knows and therefore there are legitimate question marks about the Skyalps winter program.

Incidentally, Rai also points out that neighbors should complain about aircraft noise again. Although Luxwing currently only operates a few Skyalps flights per week, conflicts are looming again. However, it is not only about the charter connections, but also about general aviation, which is said to have increased significantly.
