So far, the SmartLynx Group has had what is known as line maintenance carried out by third parties. That is now changing, because with SmartLynx technology you are launching your own Part 145 technology company.
This will specialize in the A320 series and A330 machine types. The bases will be in Riga and Tallinn. However, the technicians should be mobile throughout Europe. First and foremost, you will maintain your own fleet, but you will also take orders from other airlines. The necessary EASA approvals have already been applied for. Operations are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Qualified technicians have already been hired for this purpose. VP Technical Robert Woods said: “It was the first personal recruiting event since the pandemic. We had a great opportunity to meet so many experienced and enthusiastic engineers who are interested and passionate about aviation. Over 120 people visited the trade fair in Istanbul, where many top-class technical universities are located. It is so important for SmartLynx to have people with the right skills, motivation and attitude on our technical team, especially as we expand into the world of Line Maintenance Part-145. This is vital to us as we need to be in full control of our own fate and direction in the operating environment to ensure that we maintain the high standards that we and our customers expect as we grow together.
