The US low-cost airline Spirit Airlines has ordered ten more Airbus A321neo. These are obtained from the Lessor Air Lease Corporation.
Deliveries are to take place in 2023 and 2024. At the same time, the two companies agreed a sale-and-leaseback deal that affects five Airbus A320neo. These machines are to be handed over to Spirit Airlines this year and next year.
"This partnership will help us achieve our previously announced capacity plans for 2022 and 2023 and our targeted growth in 2024 as we invest in guest and offer exciting new destinations," said Spirit CFO Scott Haralson.
In contrast to many other airlines, the carrier preferred to take over some Airbus A320neo during the corona pandemic. The existing A319neo order was also converted, at least in part, into the larger A320neo and A321neo models.
