The Spanish airline Thomas Cook Balearics is dissolved. Company boss Alvaro Middelmann announced this in an employee circular. The circular states that the corona pandemic put an end to efforts to reactivate. The carrier recently had around 90 employees.

"As you know, 2020 was marked by the Covid19 virus pandemic. Unfortunately, this pandemic put an end to all TCAB reactivation plans. The investor Roland Ehrsam and the board of directors have spared no effort to achieve the goal of a new TCAB ”, quoted the Preferente portal from the cover letter from Middelmann. “Intensive discussions were held right through to the end. Unfortunately, the possible positive results of negotiations with new investors are not convertible in the short term. The liquidity situation and the still very negative prospects in the aviation sector have led to the very regrettable decision to apply for the company to be wound up ”.

In May 2020, the Panaf group of companies, led by Roland Ehrsam, joined the Spanish airline subsidiary of the insolvent Thomas Cook. Previously, the carrier flew almost exclusively for Condor, but the collaboration was ended. Ehrsam was previously active at Rostock Airways, among others, and was temporarily interested in the takeover of Air Alps and Intersky, but decided against the purchase.

According to Preferente, the Thomas Cook Balearics fleet has recently been reduced to two Airbus A320-200s. Some machines had to be handed over to the German Condor, others went back to the Lessors. Where the carrier should have gone after a restart was probably never given a big idea due to the pandemic.
