The Swedish Trollhättan-Vänersborg Airport feels left behind by the rest of the world and now wants to change that with the help of its own virtual airline. Due to the narrow runway, however, you are severely restricted with regard to the types of aircraft.

A BRA Fokker 22 last landed at this airport on March 2020, 50. Since then there has been no connection to the capital. Many routes have since been reactivated, but Trollhättan-Vänersborg is still behind. Since discussions with potential operators have come nowhere, you want to take your fate into your own hands with your own virtual carrier.

Under the name Västflyg, the new company should take off towards the beginning of 2022. The airport explains, among other things, that it is holding talks with some airlines about the necessary charter. But they haven't signed a fixed contract yet. It is clear to those responsible that the short and narrow runway severely limits the possibilities.

The initiator of the project is Svante Andersson, who pointed out to local media that the train travel time between Trollhättan and Stockholm of well over eight hours is particularly unreasonable for the economy. Therefore, the first step is to reactivate the connection to the capital, favoring the inner-city Bromma airport. But the final decision has not yet been made.

Västflyg will also offer other destinations within Sweden at a later date. Abroad, people have envisaged Copenhagen. However, the focus is initially on reactivating the route to Stockholm.
