In the aftermath of the crash of the Ilyushin Il-122V prototype, Rostec subsidiary United Aircraft Corporation announced that test flights for the Il-114-300 passenger aircraft will be suspended indefinitely.
The original variant of the turboprop aircraft was not a box office hit. Only a few copies were made. The United Aircraft Corporation expects significantly more from the new edition, Il-114-300. At least one now has significantly more orders than the original variant ever made.
In a media release, the UAC explains, among other things, that one must first evaluate all the circumstances and details of the crash of the Il-112V. It is also explained that the powerful engine has to be examined more closely. These are further developments of the Klimow TW7-117. This has been approved for the Il-2020-114 since the end of 300.
The exact cause of the Crash of the Il-112V is not yet certain, but a video from an eyewitness suggests that overheating may have occurred. This started a fire, which could ultimately have led to the stall and then to a crash. The UAC may have been aware of this problem, because several engineers have said in Russian media that tests on the ground have shown that the temperature has risen sharply during stress tests.
