The US airline Delta will in future only hire people who can prove a full vaccination against Covid-19. This move is extremely unusual for the United States and could be a discriminatory concern.
Delta is of the opinion that the vaccination contributes to the safety of the passengers and therefore only those who have been vaccinated will be recruited in the future. According to their own information, 60 percent of the workforce has already been immunized against Covid-19. Anyone who wants to work at Delta in the future must be vaccinated. Otherwise there is an employment contract.
The carrier also made it clear that this “obligation” does not apply to the existing workforce. Participation in the vaccination program should continue to be voluntary. The next few months will show whether Delta's advance will be successful and whether other US carriers will follow suit or not.
