The “Pharma Handling Center” at Vienna Airport is equipped for anti-corona logistics - the vaccine can be stored here in a cool place.

The active ingredients love it cool. Very cold. They quickly lose their effectiveness above a temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius. Therefore, a bitterly cold cold chain must be adhered to throughout the entire transport. That now requires intensive preparation. Much of the vaccine will land by air freight. For this reason, Vienna Airport has provided a 1.650 square meter hall that enables deep-freeze storage up to the dry ice area. Many processes there happen automatically, because the working conditions for human personnel are quite Siberian. State Secretary for Transport Magnus Brunner: "The airport has been an indispensable hub for medical aid supplies since the beginning of the pandemic."
