The Verdi union and Eurowings have reached a crisis agreement. This should bring both the flight attendants and the ground staff an employment guarantee until March 2022. Among other things, it is planned that salaries will be reduced by five percent.
The Christmas and vacation bonuses will also not be available while the crisis collective agreement is in force. In addition, a bonus of 100 euros is waived and contributions to the company pension scheme are temporarily suspended. Verdi is in "intensive negotiations" with other group airlines. The aim is also to ensure that as many flight attendants as possible who are about to be terminated can stay with Eurowings.
In the case of ground and technical staff, the vacation pay should only be waived once. Furthermore, these occupational groups will receive fewer vacation days in 2021. According to Verdi, these employment groups have already accepted the crisis collective agreement. The flight attendants represented by Verdi are called to vote until January 22, 2021.
“After tough negotiations that lasted for months, it was not only possible to secure jobs at Eurowings on the ground and in the cabin through balanced contributions to the crisis in the group. We are also committed to creating career prospects for as many cabin employees from the Lufthansa Group as possible through recruitment at Eurowings. We are already conducting collective bargaining on this. We demand financial recognition of previous professional experience in the group, ”says Verdi negotiator Marvin Reschinsky.
