Innsbruck Airport normally does most of its annual business in the cold season. This defacto failed between January and March 2021. Nevertheless, it was never completely quiet because the airport benefited from the domestic route to Vienna.

The number of passengers was low in the first four months due to the lockdowns, but also the tough entry and quarantine regulations. With the exception of February 2021, Innsbruck - in contrast to other federal state airports - was always able to stay at least over 1.000 passengers per month.

Things picked up noticeably from May 2021 onwards. Innsbruck's holiday flights brought a lot of thrust in July and August 2021. In July 2021, the Tyrolean airport counted 19.082 passengers traveling on 275 connections. In August 2021 there were 24.405 travelers on 307 movements.
