Airports and airlines that are pushing corona rapid tests in the hope of easier entry from the numerous EU member states are being rebuffed. They are clearly against it and are of the opinion that common minimum standards would be premature.

On Thursday, the topic is on the agenda at a video conference of the heads of government of the EU members. Reuters quoted from an internal EU document that will be discussed tomorrow. Accordingly, a "large number of member states" should speak out clearly against the rapid test solution. Germany in particular has repeatedly criticized the plans in the last few weeks and pointed out that the Anitgen capacities in old people's homes are seen to be better used.

The aviation industry endeavors to provide politicians with a “turnkey solution”. All travelers should have to take a quick test before departure and only those who are negative are allowed on board. It is hoped that entry will be made easier, which could ultimately lead to an increase in demand. IATA is also campaigning for an international solution. With a few exceptions, politics has so far been ignorant or even negative. It is therefore not to be expected that an agreement for a uniform rapid test procedure within the European Union will be agreed on Thursday.
