Air carrier Virgin Australia is considering adjusting its Boeing 737 Max 10 order, according to local media reports. People are upset about the fact that there is still no date set for certification by the FAA. Now they are thinking about converting it to B737-Max-8.

The Max-7 and Max-10 variants have not yet received approval from the FAA. Due to the recent problems at Boeing, it is not foreseeable that certification will be achieved quickly. This has an impact on customers, because Southwest Airlines, for example, is planning 2024 without the Max-7s it has ordered. There are also delivery delays for several years with the Max-10.

Some time ago Virgin Australia ordered 25 units of the largest version of the Max range. However, it is not clear when deliveries will start. According to a report in the Australian Financial Journal, the carrier is currently examining whether the order could be partially or possibly completely converted into the smaller Max-8 variant. This has a smaller seating capacity, but the range is greater.

Virgin Australia has not yet made a final decision. A lot will also depend on when you can get the additional Max-8, as the US manufacturer is also experiencing significant delivery delays in this area. The airline had been informed by Boeing that it would only receive four copies from the 13 Max 8 order this year. Significantly more units were contractually agreed.
