The state airline Air Malta will be getting reinforcements from GetJet Airlines from July 1, 2022. An Airbus A320 aircraft is expected to be in service from Luqa on a wet lease for the carrier until October 2022.
"This additional aircraft will enable additional services in markets such as Madrid Barajas, Prague Václav Havel, Lyon St. Exupéry and charter services to Warsaw Chopin," said Chief Commercial Officer Roy Kinnear. The rented machine is also to be used in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Geneva and Vienna, among other places.
Air Malta is wholly owned by the Republic of Malta. The fleet currently consists of four Airbus A320neo and three A320ceo. The carrier's home base is Luqa Airport, which is also the island's only commercial airport.
