The low-cost airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi intends to start non-stop flights between the United Arab Emirates and India in the coming year. For reasons of competition, the carrier still leaves open which cities on the subcontinent you want to travel to.

In recent years, the traffic between the UAE and India has become increasingly fierce competition. With Wizz Air Abu Dhabi this will probably not relax, but rather intensify. The carrier never made a secret of the fact that they wanted to enter this business area.

The corona pandemic not only resulted in the Abu Dhabi offshoot of Wizz Air carrying out the first flight later than announced, but also delayed the expansion schedule. In any case, India wants to be “tackled” in the coming year. According to a media report in the “Khaljeej Times”, the relevant route rights have already been applied for.

The newspaper report quotes Wizz Air Abu Dhabi boss Kees Van Schaick as saying: “We have all the permits from the UAE and now we are in the middle of the process of regulatory approvals from the subcontinent countries. It is up to the target markets to approve this. All bilateral service agreements are in place. It's about getting the documentary and regulatory approvals completed, and then we can go there too. We will see that this will happen sometime in 2022 ”.
