The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air intends to offer the destination Plovdiv from Dortmund. This is to be started on November 6, 2021 and operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The carrier currently has a base at Dortmund Airport. However, this should to be closed this year. In the future, the German airport will only be approached from other bases. Some routes are being discontinued.

“The routes to Bulgaria are developing well. Sofia and Varna have been established destinations for years. Burgas has only been on the flight schedule since June 10, but is already very well received, ”says Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services and Marketing. In July 2021 alone, a good 18.000 people used the connections from Dortmund to Bulgaria.

“The new route shows that Wizz Air continues to rely fully on Dortmund despite the base closure and wants to further expand the route network. Plovdiv will be the 32nd city that Wizz Air will fly to from Dortmund in winter 2021/22, ”concluded Miletic.
